Living Outside the Christmas Camp

For anyone uncertain about whether to celebrate Christmas, I recommend watching the Sunburned video (two parts: HERE and HERE) from 119 Ministries. They do an excellent job in explaining the origins of both Christmas and Easter, and describing what the Bible actually says about how to celebrate and worship YHWH. There’s a nice trailer HERE for those who aren’t sure if they want to watch the full video.

Those who have determined not to celebrate this holiday any longer, find that they are immediately set apart by this one act. Remember “holy” means set apart. If the great majority of people do something, enjoy something, or just habitually participate in something, then doesn’t that popular, accepted way sound a lot like the “broad road?” If the world is “into” something, like Christmas, shouldn’t that be a warning to believers in Messiah? Most people who celebrate Christmas don’t even claim to be Christians, but they adore this holiday. What does that indicate? And, for those who say “keep Christ in Christmas,” and I used to be a huge believer in that, consider this. Christ was NEVER really in Christmas. Bible scholars, teachers, and just about everyone who has even scratched the surface on the issue admit that the origins of Christmas are pagan. The only justifications given for this holiday being acceptable to believers are that (1) God knows my heart and that’s (the pagan roots of it) not what it means to me and (2) we’ve Christian-ized it or changed it from pagan to godly, so now it’s ok. I would lovingly caution anyone who trusts in their heart or thinks we can change something from pagan to Christian. Shouldn’t we care what YHWH thinks about it?

The heart is more deceitful than anything else and mortally sick. Who can fathom it? ~~ Jeremiah: 17: 9

Who can bring what is pure from something impure? No one! ~~ Job 14: 4

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness into light and light into darkness, who change bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter! ~~ Isaiah 5: 20

Be careful, after they have been destroyed ahead of you, not to be trapped into following them; so that you inquire after their gods and ask, “How did these nations serve their gods? I want to do the same.” You must not do this to Adonai your God! ~~ Deuteronomy 12: 30-31a

Put aside the propaganda we’ve all had poured into our minds by the culture, church fathers, etc. Think for yourself and test all things against Adonai’s infallible Word.
