RECIPE: Banana Nut Lekhem (Bread)

This simple, traditional recipe always works nicely. Sometimes when I’m in a hurry, a slice of this bread is my breakfast alternative. Delicious!

Banana Nut Lekhem (Bread)


2 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ to ½ teaspoon salt

½ cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 large or 4 small bananas, mashed

1 cup chopped nuts



Measure and sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together, add eggs and vanilla and stir until thoroughly mixed. Stir in mashed bananas. Fold in dry ingredients and nuts. Place in a well-greased loaf pan or 8” square cake pan. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees F. for 55-60 minutes.
