Nissan 1 begins at sundown tonight, marking the start of the Jewish New Year according to the traditional rabbinic calendar. Those following the abib barley for the start of the new year have a different date, which may well be the more accurate date biblically. Regardless, the fact that the total solar eclipse came just hours before the start of the new year, seems significant, especially since the next lunar eclipse (blood moon) comes in a few weeks on Passover.
BBC has a news article about the area that witnessed the solar eclipse earlier today, link here. We couldn’t see it in Montana, so I was interested to see this story.
