Last year we pushed back against popular culture’s March Madness (re: basketball) with our own March Prayer Madness, devoting each day of the month to persistent prayer. The world may call it “madness” but we delight in our Elohim! Thanks to all of you who joined us in that joyous effort!
This year, we’ll be doing something similar. We’ll spend March rejoicing over YHWH’s instructions, as the Psalmist does, by highlighting some of His loving precepts, better known as His commandments, or mitzvot. Be sure to share these posts with others to spread the Good News of our Father’s love! So many think His “laws” are burdensome (madness?), but no(!) they are actually freedom!
I rejoice in the way of your instruction more than in any kind of wealth.
I will meditate on your precepts and keep my eyes on your ways.
I will find my delight in your regulations. I will not forget your word. ~~ Psalms 119: 14-16
Even when princes sit and plot against me, your servant meditates on your laws.
Also your instructions are my delight; they are my counselors. ~~ Psalms 119: 23-24
Give me understanding; then I will keep your Torah; I will observe it with all my heart. Guide me on the path of your mitzvot, for I take pleasure in it.. ~~ Psalms 119: 34-35
Don’t deceive yourselves by only hearing what the Word says, but do it! For whoever hears the Word but doesn’t do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah, which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does. ~~ James 1: 22-25
