MMM Day 5: Do Not Add or Remove

March Mitzvot Madness Day 5

Traditions and doctrines of men often add or take away from Adonai’s perfect Word. Breaking this command is serious, as the verse in Revelation below illustrates. Let’s be diligent to study and KNOW His Word so that we can understand when someone is corrupting it. The Adversary is the ultimate master of this. He used Adonai’s truth with a twist to get Eve to sin and he has been twisting the True Word ever since.

In order to obey the mitzvot of Adonai your God which I am giving you, do not add to what I am saying, and do not subtract from it.~~ Deuteronomy 4: 2

Everything I am commanding you, you are to take care to do. Do not add to it or subtract from it. ~~ Deuteronomy 12: 32

I warn everyone hearing the words of the prophecy in this book that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this book. And if anyone takes anything away from the words in the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book. ~~ Revelation 22: 18-19

  1. Why do you think that Jesus sacrifice was not adding to the Word of G-d? Jesus was not mandated as a sacrifice in the Hebrew Bible…

    1. Yeshua (called Jesus in English) was the sacrificial lamb that all the tabernacle and temple sacrifices illustrated. All the sacrificial system was a shadow pointing to the ultimate sacrifice He made. Throughout the Tanakh there are foreshadows, illustrations, and prophecies that point to what Yeshua will eventually do. His entire life (and death/resurrection) was the living, breathing, full color version (if you will) of the more monochrome writings that speak of Him, the Tanakh. He didn’t add to YHWH’s Word, He embodied it! Praise Adonai!

  2. Male lambs never were used as a sacrifice. (You can look it up, Please show me one place where it is used as a sacrifice animal, not burnt offering)

We know that the Hebrew Bible say not to deviate from the right nor from the left. The sacrificial system was really specific. Only clean animals must be used. Yeshua was not a clean animal. Furthermore, he was killed outside the city (Hebrews 13:12) and was not killed by a Kohen (priest).

Also you shall say to them: ‘Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, 9 and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to offer it to the Lord, that man shall be cut off from among his people. Leviticus 17

How can you still say it’s an acceptable sacrifice when it goes against the LAW?

    1. The Passover lamb was a male in the prime of life (unblemished male a year old), killed away from the tabernacle or Temple. Yeshua was the ultimate Passover Lamb, unblemished and dying in the prime of His life. He said no one takes His life, but He laid down His own life as the Great High Priest. We remember His sacrifice each year at Passover, as a memorial of the redemption He provides, as YHWH instructed us to do at the very first Passover. Our Elohim is truly amazing in how He designed everything to point to Yeshua!
