Who Can You Trust?

We’ve all experienced it.  Someone promises you something then fails to deliver.  Maybe they assure you that they will keep a confidence or not spread your personal information to others, then…loose lips prevail.  Maybe a boss guarantees a promotion or other benefit after completion of a certain task or after a set amount of time, and it never happens.  Politicians are notorious for pledging whatever necessary in order to get elected, then, well…things don’t materialize as stated.  Lies run deep these days from every corner of society.  There seems to be no one, AT ALL, that can be trusted.  Focus on our Creator, not other fallible humans.  YHWH is ever faithful, completely trustworthy and perfect!

It is better to take refuge in Adonai than to trust in human beings; better to take refuge in Adonai than to put one’s trust in princes.  ~~ Psalm 118: 8-9

Adonai is a stronghold for the oppressed, a tower of strength in times of trouble.  Those who know your name put their trust in you, for you have not abandoned those who seek you, Adonai. ~~ Psalm 9: 10-11

Today’s Big Little Words: To and For

As families across America celebrate Thanksgiving with gut-busting meals, family gatherings and football games, I wanted to mention two small but important words we should remember today.  To and for.  Who are we thankful to and what are we thankful for?

We have to stop sleep walking through life not asking the vital questions.  Everyone loves Thanksgiving and no one really takes offense when you say “Happy Thanksgiving” because so few associate it with YHWH.  Many people only think about the food, family time (good or bad) and football.  This year, lets all make sure we include these two big little words.

Personally, I am very thankful TO Sovereign YHWH, Creator and Sustainer of all things, Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, FOR all He provides, FOR His endless love and mercy, FOR the ways He teaches us about Himself when we seek Him, FOR sending Messiah Yeshua to demonstrate true Torah living, and FOR resurrecting our Messiah after He paid the price for our sins.  Praise His Name!

May your Thanksgiving, if you are celebrating it, and every day forward be greatly blessed with Adonai’s best gift…Himself!

Travel Prayers

So many people are on the roads or in the air, or have been in the last few days, traveling for this all-American holiday season.  Please keep one another in prayer during this time.  The Adversary and his minions seem to use busy times like this to do some of their most dastardly deeds.

Gracious Adonai, YHWH our Elohim, wrap Your loving arms around Your people wherever they are this week and the following weeks.  Forgive us our sins and trespasses.  Help us to repent and walk humbly with You, in Your ways.  Keep us all safe from accident, illness and injury.  Protect us from deception, distraction, and despair.  Make our travels safe and smooth, and our hearts and minds filled with Your shalom… complete peace and rest in You.  For those traveling, please keep their homes and possessions safe and intact while they are away.  Thwart any evildoers wishing harm on Your kids.  Protect, help, and bless in Your merciful loving kindness.  Give us all hearts and lips to sing Your great praises.  May Your Name be praised through our lives!  May Your will be done in all things!  In the glorious name of our Messiah Yeshua we request these things.  Amen.

Living Lessons

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

~ Helen Keller, American author and activist

How true!  Maybe this is why adults often can’t seem to get through to the youth, teaching them from experience.  We try to help the younger crowd avoid painful situations but they “insist” on learning the hard way.  Sometimes things just have to be experienced and lived out, even when it gets ugly.

Not always in agreement with Ms. Keller’s “activism”, but this quote is right on.

Anointing Someone Who Doesn’t Know Him

Sovereign YHWH uses both the righteous and the wicked, the believer and the non-believer, for His purposes.  Did you know He even anoints and empowers people who don’t know Him?  He does it “for the sake of Ya’akov”…Israel.

Thus says Adonai to Koresh, his anointed, whose right hand he has grasped, so that he subdues nations before him and strips kings of their robes, so that doors open in front of him, and no gates are barred: “I will go ahead of you, levelling the hills, shattering the bronze gates, smashing the iron bars.  I will give you treasures hoarded in the dark, secret riches hidden away, so that you will know that I, Adonai, calling you by your name, am the God of Isra’el.   It is for the sake of Ya‘akov my servant, yes, for Isra’el my elect, that I call you by your name and give you a title, although you don’t know me.   I am Adonai; there is no other; besides me there is no God.  I am arming you, although you don’t know me, so that those from the east and those from the west will know that there is none besides me — I am Adonai; there is no other.   I form light, I create darkness; I make well-being, I create woe; I, Adonai, do all these things. ~~ Isaiah 45: 1-7
