Blessed Are Those Who Watch

Messiah tells us that Adonai blesses those who stay alert and watch.

It can be disheartening to see what is going on in the world these days, but we can choose to think about it differently.  Personally there are times I would rather be uninformed than to see and read all the drama, lies, deception, and upheaval that is found in the so-called news today.  But I know it is wise to keep watch, discerning bits and pieces of truth from the abundance of deception served up on heaping plates.  It is a difficult, tiresome task.  But it is worth it.  Watching, staying alert and awake brings blessings!  We know the world does not win out in the end.  Evil is destroyed eventually.  So we should watch with that certainty always present in our hearts and minds.

Read the variations in translations below.  I find them interesting.  Keep the faith!  And keep watching what our Elohim is bringing to pass right before our eyes!

Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit, like people waiting for their master’s return after a wedding feast; so that when he comes and knocks, they will open the door for him without delay.  Happy the slaves whom the master finds alert when he comes! Yes! I tell you he will put on his work clothes, seat them at the table, and come serve them himself.  Whether it is late at night or early in the morning, if this is how he finds them, those slaves are happy. ~~ Luke 12: 35-38 (Complete Jewish Bible)

Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.  Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.  And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. ~~ Luke 12: 35-38 (New King James Version)

Fate of Iran Deal

In case you missed the article titled “Prophetic Insights Shed Light on Possible Fate of Iran Deal” from BreakingIsraelNews.com, I’ve linked to it HERE.  While anticipating a significant event occurring soon, knowing the event might be hidden for a time or nothing may happen at all, we should be vigilant to keep watch and pray.  May your Shabbat be filled with blessings and shalom!

Ninth of Av

The Ninth of Av on the Hebrew calendar has historically been a day of tragedy and exile for the Jewish people. Depending on which Biblical calendar you believe is more accurate, this year’s Ninth of Av falls either tomorrow, Saturday July 25th or Sunday July 26th. There is no guarantee this year’s date will bring more calamity, but it is certainly a time to be watchful and aware. Let us spend time today and this weekend in fervent prayer for Israel, Jerusalem, Jews who do not yet acknowledge Yeshua as Messiah, and our brothers and sisters in Yeshua both Jew and Gentile.

Season of Preparation

As stated in Ecclesiastes 3, there is a season for all things:

For everything there is a season, a right time for every intention under heaven — a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, … ~~ Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2

For many, the current time appears to be a season to prepare. For what? For what is coming upon the earth, possibly much sooner than we know. Numerous people are trying to prepare physically, with endurance and skills training, food storage, etc. While these are good, they are not the most important preparations needed. We must know what is true, Whom we serve, and what He wants of us. We must learn His ways and live in obedience and submission to His will.

Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth. ~~ 2 Timothy 2: 15

Or, as the King James version words it, “Study to show yourself approved.” Let us not allow this designated time slip through our hands, wasted. Let us prepare our hearts, minds, bodies, and spirits for the dark days ahead, so that we may be counted worthy to stand in His presence!

But keep watch on yourselves, or your hearts will become dulled by carousing, drunkenness and the worries of everyday living, and that Day will be sprung upon you suddenly like a trap! For it will close in on everyone, no matter where they live, throughout the whole world. Stay alert, always praying that you will have the strength to escape all the things that will happen and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man. ~~ Luke 21: 34-36

Something Wicked…is HERE

Our Lord commanded us to watch, be watchful, and not fear. We must keep informed of what is really going on in the world, which can be difficult with the waist-deep level of lies and deception these days. Please take the time to read these two articles linked below. I don’t know enough about either site to necessarily recommend them, but think these articles in particular have useful information. As with anything from the mouth of man, have discernment in what you read and listen to. I believe the remainder of 2015 will be very interesting, if not life changing. Many secular sources are predicting “something” happening in September or October as the Shemitah year concludes. Let’s remain obedient and keep watching!

Thief in the Night?

Often people read or hear the verse that the Lord will come as a thief in the night, and think no one can have any idea when Messiah is returning. Could this be another case of us not reading the Scriptures in context, not properly understanding Jewish culture, and allowing “teachers” or “church fathers” to color our interpretation of Biblical truth? Indeed Yeshua Himself says that no one will know the day or the hour of His return. But He does command us to watch! When we study the Feasts of the Lord, we get some great hints. With those clues, we still won’t know the specific year, but we might learn what season to be most attentive.

But you have no need to have anything written to you, brothers, about the times and dates when this will happen; because you yourselves well know that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. When people are saying, “Everything is so peaceful and secure,” then destruction will suddenly come upon them, the way labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there is no way they will escape. But you, brothers, are not in the dark, so that the Day should take you by surprise like a thief; for you are all people who belong to the light, who belong to the day. We don’t belong to the night or to darkness, so let’s not be asleep, like the rest are; on the contrary, let us stay alert and sober.  ~~ 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-6

I think most of us skip over the highlighted part above. Yeshua’s people do not have to be taken by surprise! If we are watchful, we can have a “heads-up” to His return!

Mark Biltz from El Shaddai Ministries gives an interesting teaching on the Feasts of the Lord. He states that knowing Hebrew idioms used in the Bible unlocks a greater understanding on future prophetic events. He believes there are clues to suggest that Yeshua may return on Yom Teruah, the first day of the seventh Biblical month in some future year. Space does not permit me to detail all he says on this topic, so be sure to search it for yourself. Many of his teachings can be found online for free, and his ministry also offers some, like the Feasts of the Lord teaching, for a nominal price. Whether you agree with his assessment or not, it is utterly fascinating to see how he connects the dots!
